Green Party Election Statistics from All Over the U.S.

At least 131 Greens in 23 states ran in the November 5 elections. Among these, 81 races were for partisan state and federal office, and 50 were for local county, city, school and special offices.

• Of the 50 races for local office in November, at least 18 Greens were elected, including 12 out of 13 incumbents. Greens lead in two more races in California that are still too close to call  and a smattering of additional local candidates are still being reported. Of the 18 elected, two were for city council, two for school board, seven for water board and two for parks board. Of the 50 overall, the breakdown includes: city council (16), mayor (2), school board (6), water board (9), parks board (2) and county board (4).

• Earlier in 2024, running for similar offices, Greens were elected in 25 out of 41 races (61%). For the entire year 2024, Greens have been elected in at least 43 out of 91 races (47.8%) for county, city, school, tribal and special district office. Overall at least 179 Greens in 26 states ran in 2024, with a breakdown of 91 for local office and 88 for state and federal office, dispelling the myth that Greens only run in top-of-the-ticket races.

• As of the November 5 elections, at least 153 Greens in 21 states hold elected office. All-time, Greens have been elected at least 1551 times to public office.
