1979, college freshman, environmental symposium on campus (Reagan had not happened yet, so Jimmy Carter environmental concern had not yet been squelched): I heard Barry Commoner speak. So began my long search for a Green Party to be involved in. Here I am: Math teacher, bassist, poet, cook, podcaster (HSV Progressive), activist!

I've been a resident of Huntsville since 1987. I graduated from Grissom High School in 1992, UAH in 1997, and UAB in 2000. I've dedicated my career to helping others through teaching and counseling jobs. I currently teach ESL online to students around the world. Through my work for social service non-profit agencies, I've seen the great need for improvements in our community in the areas of housing, public transportation, education, and homeless outreach. I'm also passionate about improving local efforts to preserve and protect our enviroment. I support the Green Party because I believe they offer the public better solutions based on better values. My hobbies include reading, writing poetry and playing tournament Scrabble. 

LeaAnn has been involved in the North Alabama Peace Network since the beginning of the Iraq war. LeaAnn first became involved in radical politics during the Occupy Movement in 2008, where she met Joy St.John Johnson, present chairperson of the Madison Country Green Party. LeaAnn became supportive and active with the Green Party in 2016 after the DNC stole the election from Bernie Sanders. She DemExited at that time in 2016. She looks forward to being an organizer for the Madison County Green Party, meeting more like-minded people and getting out the vote for Jill in 2024!
